Meet our facilitators

Miranda
Hi, I’m Miranda (she/her), a U2 BSc Environment student from Bowen Island, British Columbia. I am passionate about grassroots organizing, community gardens, oatmeal, and the importance of books. In my spare time I love to mend clothes, write short stories, make music with people, and bike around the city. I joined ECOLE because I wanted to learn more about urban sustainability, and because anti-hierarchical communal living is awesome! As an ECOLE facilitator, I’m hoping to help McGill students organize for climate action and hold our institution accountable. I can’t wait to strengthen my connections to the Montreal activist community this year!

Eva
Hii, I am eva, (she/ Her), a U3 environment and development with minor management. I am from Chengdu, china. I love hanging out with my friends, go to the gym and went climbing with friends. I am very excited about doing the ECOLE project, and commuity-building! this provides me with lots of opportunities to practice sustinabilty life style and also get advices from peers.

Georgina
Hi! I am Georgina (she/her) a U2 environment and history student. I was born on xʷməθkʷəy̓əm land (Vancouver) but now am grateful to call Tiohtià:ke (Montreal) my home. I am a big fan of spending time outside, especially surrounded by people I love and my favorite tree species (red cedar, Maple, and Douglas fir). One of my biggest passions is environmental education, especially with kids and youth groups. On the day to day, you may find me bouldering, studying at the library or listening to audiobooks and collaging.

Anabel
Bonjour world! My name is Anabel (she/her) and I am a 2nd year Msc Epidemiology student. I was born and raised in Calgary but made the trek last year to move across the country to Montreal and pursue graduate studies to become a disease detective! The world of public health is heavily intertwined with social and ecological justice, whether it’s the climate crisis spawning another pandemic or the mass displacement of people from climate-related disasters. Through ECOLE, I’ve had the pleasure of being a part of so many great community initatives — including movie nights showcasing films oriented around human rights, getting to know the Milton Parc community better, or simply interesting late night chats with roomies who have the best book recs!!

Mariana
Hi! My name is Mariana (she/they) and I’m pursuing a BA in Political Science and a minor in Sociology. I was born and raised in Medellín, Colombia so I’m an ardent enjoyer of some good Latin Jazz and Salsa. I’m in my second consecutive year trying to learn new instruments (somewhat unsucessfully) and I love having a good walk and binge watching a victorian period piece. I joined ECOLE out of my passion for community organizing and meeting other people I can grow with and learn from! I focus mainly on migrant rights advocacy, but look foward to expanding my knowledge on new initiatives and social justice movements.

Julia
Hey there! My name is Julia (they/them) and I am studying a B.Sc. in Mathematics. When not puzzling over a math proof, you’ll find me on a hike up Mont-Royal, bixi-ing around the Plateau, or growing oyster mushrooms with my friends on campus. I was drawn to ECOLE because of its emphasis on sustainability, both social and environmental, and the opportunity to live communally. I look forward to continuing my exploration of waste management and the role nature can play in it through my microproject.

Victoria
Hi! My name is Victoria (she/her) and I am a U1 International Development and Gender Studies Major. Aside from my studies i’m an extremely busy body, so you’ll find me either organizing some sort of social gathering, choreographing a dance, reading a book or drawing. I joined ecole primarily because of its emphasis on community-style living, as I am the type of person who values their community immensely. I loved the idea of being around other students who are passionate about student organizing, learning and growing as a collective. I look forward to working with community members and strengthening different grassroots movements on campus!

Ray
Hello! I’m Ray (any pronouns) and I’m pursuing a BA in Environment & Development, with minors in Urban Studies and French 🙂 I’m from small town Ontario, so I greatly enjoy exploring Montreal’s variety of cafés, restaurants, thrift/vintage stores, parks, libraries, festivals, and nightlife spots! In my free time, I like to read, write, draw, binge TV shows, skate, and spend lots of time with my friends and family <3
Meet our Coordinators

Mozhdeh – External
Hi! I’m Mozhdeh (Mojdé), ECOLE’s External Coordinator. I enjoy learning about our microprojects and their journeys, which reflect ECOLE’s broader effort to foster care, ecological thinking, and social justice. I recently completed my dissertation exploring gender, land relations, and grassroots ecological movements. My current work focuses on gardening, ecological practices, and their connections to mental health. At Health Canada, I also work on the social and health aspects of air pollution. Outside of ECOLE and work, I care for my plants on the balcony and indoors, continue learning French, and engage with community spaces that bring people, art, and the environment together.
